This is my father Loren Pickford's latest release. My father is an amazing alto sax player, arranger, and composer who lives down in New Orleans. The hard swinging jazz quartet on this date is made up of the city's finest players. It features Bill Huntington on bass, Todd Duke on guitar and Herman Lebeaux on drums. They play originals by Pickford and Duke along with classic bop tunes from Horace Silver, Dizzy Gillespie, and Warne Marsh. I'm not just saying this because he's my dad. This cat can play!! If you enjoy 50's and 60's Blue Note style jazz and be-bop you'll love this CD.
This is another CD by my father Loren Pickford and it is a bit more eclectic . It was originally released back in 1995 and it features my father on saxophone, kalimba, bansuri flutes, piano, synths and shakers. I play bass on this one and the music falls into more of a Brazilian, Nubian, Pat Metheny/Lyle Mays, World Music type of vibe and features some really beautiful originals that my father wrote. Highly recommended!
